The smart/funny English duo The 1957 Tail-Fin Fiasco put forth this video of yet another tune demonstrating the lost art of storytelling in song, with a witty twist. The narrator describes himself as a “clerical man from Blythe, California” who bemoans “monogamy will be the death of me,” as the two officiate/participate in wedding #29, before making their getaway in a Fiat.
The melody is minded, too, via a jaunty barroom piano that sticks in your cranium even if the lyrics somehow fail to.
“Monogamy Pews” first appeared on The Harvard Tango, the Tail-Fin Fiasco’s album from earlier this year, but now the boys from Essex will make this single (b/w “Take Me Dancing, My Love”) available for a free download on October 23, 2020.
