Operating out of the San Francisco Bay Area, Richard Turgeon is a one man band who has been incredibly prolific these past several months.
Aside from releasing a full-length album – Sea Change – he has cut a string of digital download singles, with “Powder Keg” counting as the latest of the batch. Lyrically and musically, “Powder Keg” reflects the anxious mood presently permeating the world.
Fashioned around a joint send up of searing guitar moves and crushing drum patterns, the song rocks hard and fast with blood-boiling urgency. Turgeon’s commanding vocals, accompanied by a tightly-woven hook and a thrusting break further power the song to towering heights.
Blazing with volume and weight, “Powder Keg” may sound angry and aggressive, but the message spells peace, tolerance and destruction of ignorance. Crank it to the max and support Turgeon’s hope and vision for a better day for all of us.
