Even if you haven’t heard of Sonic Beat Records, you’ve heard Sonic Beat Records.
Founded by Sebastian Robertson, son of the Band cofounder and Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee Robbie Robertson, this production music label collects more than 6,000 film and TV placements each month. With more than 230 albums of material across genres including hip hop, trap, EDM, country, rock ‘n’ roll and orchestral available to license via Universal Music, it’s no surprise that these tracks have become favorites for use among top music supervisors.
Sonic Beat is already a staple at major networks including NBC, CBS, FOX, ESPN, ABC as well as cable networks including, Discovery, Bravo, E!, MTV, HBO, National Geographic and Showtime. Through the Universal Music pipeline, Sonic Beat’s international reach touches more than 40 countries including the United Kingdom, Germany, Japan, Australia, Mexico, Canada, Belgium and France.
Robertson’s work as a film and television composer also includes original music for Martin Scorsese’s The Irishman, the award-winning documentary Survivor’s Guide to Prison, the horror film Condemned and the Mickey Hart and Bill Kreutzmann-produced Let There Be Drums, directed by Justin Kreutzmann. In addition, he’s written the theme songs for the NBC flagship news programs Access Hollywood and Access Daily.
“Sebastian is an incredibly talented composer and musician, with deep roots in the industry and connections to artists across all branches of popular music,” Carl Peel of Universal Production Music said when announcing the partnership with Sonic Beat. “His taste and inventiveness as a television and film composer is apparent in this fabulous, wide-ranging collection.”
Producing premium production music has paid off for Sonic Beat Records. The label recently won the “Production Music Track for Entertainment” at the 2020 NewscastStudio’s Broadcast Production Awards. The first track, “Going Viral” penned by Brody Lee and Sebastian Robertson with mixing and mastering by Jin Wooh off the album Hip Hopsicle, is the feel-good summertime instrumental that grabbed the win.
With thousands of other tracks – and more arriving monthly – Sonic Beat’s presence in the film and TV community looks to continue growing for years to come. Check out their website for the latest releases and news at www.sonicbeatrecords.com or you can preview the entire catalog.
