Desmond White’s new release Glace is an eclectic mix of jazz and rock elements, reflecting his worldly travels over the last few years. You hear that loud and clear on “Dream Girl,” a fascinating combination of these influences.
The advance track features Native American singer Raye Zaragoza, whose vocal interplay with White creates an almost outer-worldly contrast. A multi-instrumentalist, Desmond White provides a satisfying melody which, with guest drummer Nate Wood, propels the song forward.
The results are sparse, yet wholly satisfying. White is effective at creating the vision of his recent journeys, while leaving just enough space on the canvas for the listener’s imagination. “Dream Girl” is a effective gateway to the heart of Desmond White’s Glace.
