The lead single from an aptly titled upcoming album by Rebirth Brass Band, “Rebirth Groove” is a party inside a download — the kind of track that travels down your spine until it lands like a cluster bomb in your nether regions. We defy you not to start shaking everything you’ve got.
Move Your Body was co-produced by Chadrick Honore, Tracey Freeman and Derrick Tabb. Featured guests include Trombone Shorty and Glen David Andrews. But Rebirth Brass Band is a side street parade all its own. “Rebirth Groove” is all the proof you need.
Undulating island rhythms are punctuated by bright stabs of trumpet and trombone, while delirious calls and chest-rattling tuba work in counterpoint. As this song trumpets — quite literally — there ain’t nothing like a Rebirth groove.
Move Your Body, which follows this New Orleans collective’s Grammy-winning album Rebirth of New Orleans, is due on June 24, 2014 via Basin Street Records.
