Amy Winehouse vet Mark Ronson’s work on a forthcoming Paul McCartney studio effort, the former Beatle’s first mainstream pop album as a solo artist since 2007’s Memory Almost Full, has gotten all the headlines. The truth is, Ronson’s one of several collaborators on the project.
“I’ve worked with four different producers,” McCartney says in this talk with Mariella Fassanaro, “because I wanted to see if I liked one better than the other. But, in the end, I liked them all.”
The result has been a varied effort: “It’s a lot of different kind of songs,” McCartney says. “It’s not just one thing.”
Joining Ronson is Paul Epworth (Adele), Ethan Johns (son of former Let It Be producer Glyn Johns), and Giles Martin (son of the Beatles’ principal producer George Martin). “He’s very good at pulling projects together,” McCartney says of the younger Martin — who previously worked on assembling Love, the Beatles mashup project.
“I enjoyed working with the guys, a lot,” McCartney adds. “I’m very happy. I think it’s going to be a good album. I’m pleased with it.”
Since 2007, McCartney has collaborated on a Fireman project, and issued a jazz standards LP.

God, let’s hope so. Memory Almost Full was hyped too and it stunk.
“Nod Your Head” if that album was wretched.
