Yes, “We Agree” from ‘Magnification’ (2001): YESterdays

“We Agree” from from Yes’ Magnification employs sentiment and positivity without becoming cliche. Steve Howe’s acoustic guitar melds well with a luscious string arrangement. Later in the song, Howe ramps up the melody with his electric solos.

Every element seems to hit the right note. Chris Squire’s harmonies play an essential part in the song’s effectiveness. Jon Anderson navigates the uplifting lyrics with finesse and power, and Yes’ rhythm section glides along so well that you almost overlook the complexity of what Alan White and Squire are performing.

Lyrically, whimsy, and glimmers of current-day reality are present. “We Agree” is one more forgotten Yes track deserving of more notice than it has received. In fact, it’s another cog in the machine of a band with far more great deep cuts than most groups could conceive of.
