Fresh off a triumphal debut on American soil with Queen, Adam Lambert will apparently turn his attention to some new solo material — and he says appearances with Brian May and Roger Taylor have had a direct impact on the creative process.
Lambert’s most recent studio effort was the May 2012 album Tresspassing. That followed 2009’s For Your Entertainment, issued in the wake of his runner up finish as a contestant on American Idol. The concert EP Acoustic Live appeared in 2010.
By then, Lambert had already begun a musical relationship with Taylor and May in Queen, one that’s included a well-received set of European performances before last month’s show in Vegas as part of the iHeart radio festival.
Along the way, Lambert says he’s hit upon a musical theme for his new project.
“I’m writing music like a crazy person,” Lambert says in this talk with Ryan Seacrest. “I’m, like, in love with rock ‘n’ roll again. I feel like there is such a change happening in the music scene. People are playing instruments again, and this whole thing with Queen has been really inspiring. So, I’m going to revisit my rock ‘n’ roll roots a little bit — the things that made me want to audition for Idol in the first place. That’s been my inspiration.”

FINALLY!!! adam you REALLY are a rocker at heart!! go for it, baby!!
I love Adam’s dance and pop music. I’m sure I’ll love his rock music too. pr63 I disagree that he’s a rocker at heart. How the hell do you know? I think Adam is a world class singer at heart who can do any genre. I think he’ll always skip around as he gets bored or restless. He’s one of those extremely rare talents that can sing anything. That’s what I like about him.
Can’t wait for new music from Adam. Anyone know if he has signed with a new label? Perhaps Brian and Roger might help….just thinkin’
I hope North American DJs will let us hear Adam with Avicii and Nile on Lay Me Down. They completely ignored Trespassing despite numerous requests for airplay from his fans.
Adam’s magnetism, charisma, theatrics, stage presence and “into the stratosphere” voice are one in a billion.
What kills me is his performance with Queen, albeit triumphal, was just a taste of what they can do in their own show. You can’t imagine how good they were and the crowds they had in Europe. I hope he does new music, makes an album, sings with Queen for a few inspirational concerts, and does a few Glee shows. He deserves success for goodness sake when you see some mediocre performers like Cyrus making it so big. I don’t get it.
Watching Adam Lambert do anything is like…well, it’s like nothing else on TV. That’s why I reach over and change the channel whenever he appears. That way he retains my high opinion of him.
