The Jon Anderson composition “Show Me” first appeared as a bonus track from the 2003 compilation The Ultimate Yes: 35th Anniversary Collection. The song has since been included on at least three other official live releases, and with good reason.
Lyrically Anderson is straightforward:
“Show me the children who remember their own father now
Show me the children who just don’t sleep anymore
Show me the days where I don’t understand what it is
I would show you a child who is lonely
I would show you a child who is lost and afraid …”
The production, which was handled by Yes, is sympathetic to the lyrics with touches of fretless bass, mandolin by Steve Howe, and Rick Wakeman’s piano providing the usual tasteful frilly bits.
