Yes stalwart Steve Howe rarely shows off. One of the greatest guitarists in history and the current leader of my counsel of Steve (which includes Lukather, Morse and Hackett), he has a legacy of fantastic solo and group songs and guitar parts.
Howe makes a number of memorable runs on 2011’s Fly From Here, and his solo guitar song “Solitaire” ranks among the Yes guitarist’s best.
He morphs classical, flamenco and country into one joyous combination. The fingerpicked Chet Atkins-inspired flavors seem to be a continued progression from “Masquerade” from 1991’s Union.
Steve Howe’s playing and songwriting talents make Fly From Here the last truly great Yes album.
