If you’re a fan of heavy progressive music, you will not mistake McStine and Minnemann as a law firm. In fact, if you have ever heard songs by the Aristocrats or Lo-Fi Resistance, you’ve probably already preordered the album McStine and Minnemann, due July 3, 2020.
If you haven’t, check out “Program,” the lead single from the album. Initially recorded by Randy McStine back in 2013, “Program” is given a new twist in his collaboration with Marco Minnemann.
McStine’s vocals are urgent and perfectly unhinged, matching the urgency of the track. Marco Minnemann’s drumming matches the intensity. The middle instrumental section is compact yet pure genius with its techno ’90s synth touches and fanatical rhythms.
Randy McStine brings things back on point at the coda and before you know it, the song is over. “Program” seems to be a perfect start to McStine and Minnemann. Get a taste of the album via Bandcamp. Why wait for July?
