The collapse of live shows has devastated the concert industry. Smaller acts have seen more of an impact with some deciding not to continue. California-based Ozomatli has also been faced with how to move forward with the band’s 2020 plans in light of COVID-19.

That sparked an idea for a livestream fundraiser for musicians on Cinco de Mayo. Known for their incendiary live shows and after-parties, Ozomatli will bring that same passion to the show, which is scheduled for 5 p.m. PST May 5, 2020. This event serves as Part 2 of their Worldwide Quarantine Block Party, and will be presented in conjunction with the non-profit House of Blues Music Forward Foundation.

“We really loved how things turned out and just want to keep the love going,” Ozomatli said in a statement. “Music helps us share our connection to one another, to strengthen it, to remind us we are not alone during hard times. Now more than ever, we need to remember that. We are proud to share our music with the world and help other artists at the same time. Come help us celebrate and keep the music alive!”

The Worldwide Quarantine Block Party II will feature frequent OZO guests Chali 2NA and Cut Chemist, and is hosted by Pili Montilla and Raul Campos. It’s free, but Ozomatli encourages those who can afford it to help with this important cause, generating funds for musicians and bands impacted by the recent COVID-19 outbreak and the loss of their tours worldwide.
