It seems as though there is a tribute act for every artist or band these days. But a group aping both Elvis Presley and the Beatles is quite an anomaly. And that brings us to Presley’s Beatles.
Angelo Sicilano is “Elvis,” while “the Beatles” are Joe Mandica on guitar and vocals, Roy Zedras on bass and vocals, Andy Burns on piano and vocals, and Vince Madaffari on drums.
Here on their debut download single, Presley’s Beatles mash together Elvis Presley’ 1961 smash hit, “Can’t Help Falling In Love” with the Liverpool band’s 1970 chart-topper “Let It Be” into a highly imaginative arrangement. The presentation, however, retains the same spiritualized emotion permeating the original recordings.
The video accompanying “Can’t Help Falling In Love / Let It Be” also projects an interesting slant. In contrast to the ballads performed and the musicians’ eras in which they were released, the fellows are donned in threads reflecting the rebel phase of the guys they’re impersonating.
There’s “Elvis,” decked out in leather and looking like the wild boy he once was, where “the Beatles,” with their all-black wear, strike a rowdier pre-fame pose of themselves.
Great singing, supported by crisp and concentrated playing – complete with a blazing guitar solo – make “Can’t Help Falling In Love / Let It Be” a satisfying listen.
