Following the release of his last album Go Deep this past August, San Francisco jack-of-all trades Richard Turgeon has been busy cutting singles to be included on his next full-length collection.
Turgeon’s current single “Joelene” – which is presently available as a digital download – is a paean to a young lady any band would be lucky to know, as she was their biggest cheerleader, supporting them every step of the way at every level. But she eventually moved on, breaking the band’s heart.
Sticking fast to Richard Turgeon’s most recent recordings, “Joelene” rocks with continual strength and stamina. Sounding like Bruce Springsteen fronting Fountains of Wayne on a grunge bender, “Joelene” orbits around a repertoire of raucous guitars and punishing rhythms.
Turgeon has again produced a blue ribbon song summoning widespread appreciation. His aptitude for piecing together heritage hard rock with catchy pop sensibilities is right on par with his influences, and “Joelene” logs in as a solid demonstration of such instincts.
