It’s always fun tuning into vintage videos, especially when they are those of our favorite musicians. What we have here is a teenage Joe Mandica performing a version of the Beatles classic “I Feel Fine,” which was filmed Nov. 26, 1980 and aired on Safeway’s talent TV show. Yes, that Safeway – the grocery store chain!
Aside from the spot on rendering of “I Feel Fine,” Joe’s body language reflects the bobbing movements and excitement the Beatles projected while on stage. You can tell Joe Mandica was a serious scholar of the celebrated Liverpool foursome, and his homage to the fellows would have certainly guaranteed employment in a Beatles tribute band!
Joe, of course, eventually went on to craft his own magnificent missives. Along with boasting membership in bands like the Secrets and the Initiative, the Australian songwriter and multi-instrumentalist has carved a nice niche as a producer and solo artist.
A charming trip down memory lane, Joe Mandica’s take of “I Feel Fine” will indeed make you feel fine!
