Mark Anthony K is making the most of his quarantine time. Taking another detour from his Projekt Gemineye endeavors, he has teamed with Joe Bailey to create the Dark Monarchy.
Joe Bailey, a featured vocalist on Projekt Gemineye’s epic In the Year 3073: Book 1 album, jumps right in with both feet on “Fool’s Gold,” the teaser single for the Dark Monarchy’s forthcoming debut.
Produced by Bailey and Anthony K, “Fool’s Gold” comes out swinging right out of the gate. Bailey has a powerful voice reminiscent of Robin Zander of Cheap Trick. Bailey also handles the bass guitar and keyboard.
The pairing with Mark Anthony K produces something lyrically and sonically different than Projekt Gemineye, but no less impactful. Joe Bailey’s keyboard flourishes meld well with Anthony K’s soaring guitars and powerful drumming.
All these elements tie into Bailey’s shockingly relevant apocalyptic lyrics, giving us plenty to anticipate as Dark Monarchy gets set to release their self-titled album via Bandcamp on June 12.
