The second bonus track on the Rhino remaster of 1977’s ‘Chicago XI’ is an enjoyable, if not remarkable, listen.

This is an interesting one-time listen for devoted fans of Chicago’s original group. Others need not apply.

Lounging between Chicago’s vintage poppier moments and the slicker stance they’d recently adopted, “Baby, What a Big Surprise” is the best of both worlds.

It’s a shame this wonderful, mostly acoustic jazzy bonus cut from the late Terry Kath didn’t find itself on ‘Chicago X.’
