It’s not until you actually start combing through the hundreds of records you’ve listened to over a decade that you realize how daunting the task really is.

This best of 2018 list for hard rock and metal is capped by one mammoth record that made the whole year worth it.

Picking a Best of 2015 list wasn’t easy. A few albums were outstanding, but I sometimes had a hard time finding new music that connected.

In a year that, for me at least, has been largely uninspiring on the music front, Amorphis’ ‘Under the Red Cloud’ is a glittering jewel.

I can guarantee that this list will be the first-ever mention of several of these bands on Something Else!, but you might find something worth checking out.
