“Angel Don’t Cry” should have been the leadoff single from 1984’s ‘Isolation,’ showcasing Toto’s new lead singer.

“Stranger in Town” was written by Toto’s David Paich and Jeff Porcaro, who also composed the smash hit “Africa.” But it couldn’t be more different.

Lyrically direct yet with a playful turn on the word “lion,” this Fergie Frederiksen-sung Toto song is sharp, funky and precise.

Toto should have been on top of the world after the blockbuster ‘Toto IV.’ Instead, their follow up ‘Isolation’ found the band in a state of flux.

“Africa,” the last song on ‘Toto IV,’ represents an end in many respects for the band.

“Waiting for Your Love” is another ‘Toto IV’ deep cut which could easily have been a successful single from the album. This is song craftsmanship at its finest.

Toto’s “We Made It” is often overlooked, yet the David Paich/Jeff Porcaro collaboration offers so much more than meets the ear.

‘Toto IV’ follows the Steve Lukather rocker “Afraid Of Love” with an even more potent song from David Paich.

“Afraid of Love” isn’t just one of the best deep cuts found on Toto IV; it’s one of Toto’s catchiest, most accessible album tracks ever.
