The song unfolds as if the music is tracing behind the lyric rather than, say, the drums.
There’s little, if any, redeeming value to the message. And yet I can’t get the song out of my head.
He passed on way back in 1993, but the earth – no … the universe – still misses him.
As this song trumpets – quite literally – there ain’t nothing like a Rebirth groove.
The project doesn’t just pay tribute to Jeffrey Lee Pierce so much as expand his legacy.
Somewhere tucked away under all of that hipster modernity is a stone-cold blues lover.
