Black Sabbath’s cameo last night on “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation” included the television debut of “End of the Beginning,” a song from their upcoming reunion disc 13.
Sabbath’s Geezer Butler admits to being a huge fan of the show, saying he’s glued to the tube for “every episode.”
13, set for release on June 11, 2013, is the band’s first with Ozzy Osbourne in some 35 years. Black Sabbath has already premiered the lead single “God is Dead,” and begun slipping other new tunes into their live set.
Butler, Tony Iommi and Ozzy were featured during the opening scene of “CSI” on CBS, performing the song at a small club. Osbourne even had a post-gig interview on camera.
“The album has a modern sound, but there’s no denying it’s a Black Sabbath album,” he tells a reporter. “It’s still got the Black Sabbath vibe, you know?”
The Rick Rubin-produced 13, which features Brad Wilk in place of Bill Ward on drums, will be distributed via Vertigo/Republic.

Osbourne has admitted to the difficulties of this kind of promotional appearance.
“I’m not an actor,” he says. “When you see it on TV it’s all done, but when you’re filming there’s a lot of stuff going on. It’s been a long time but the wait has been well worth it and I’m really pleased with the outcome. It’s good fun and it’s a good way of telling people that we’re back together, you know?”
