Frontman Roger Daltrey was noncommittal about another reunion tour for the Who, saying “it all depends on whether it feels right.”
The Who’s last major concert treks were held between 2006-09, in support of the comeback album Endless Wire, as Daltrey and co-founding guitarist Pete Townshend played shows in England, Europe, Japan, New Zealand, Australia and North America. Since, the Who has served as featured halftime performer at Super Bowl 44, and performed at a pair of cancer charity events in 2010 and 2011.
Meanwhile, Daltrey has toured as a solo act, performing the Who epic Tommy, with Townshend’s blessing. He was speaking in advance of the ongoing Teenage Cancer Trust shows at London’s Royal Albert Hall — of which Daltrey is an organizer. Paul McCartney will headline the concert tonight; Example and Pulp are scheduled for the coming days.
“It’s five years on since we last toured heavily; it’s only just over a year since we last played together,” Daltrey said. “I’m not the same as I was five years ago. Things need to move on and change, and you need to reinvent things. It all depends on whether it feels right.”
