One Track Mind: Grace Marino, “Don’t Say It’s Gone” (2014)

A lot of fine folks reading this are probably already hip to Grace Marino, who performs with the Australia-based band the Initiative.

Equipped with an immensely potent set of pipes, bullseye timing and a genuine feel for the music she makes, Grace has conceived a real beauty with “Don’t Say It’s Gone,” which not only features all the aforementioned qualities she’s known for, but goes the extra mile and then some.

Commenced by the jazzy chime of a piano, “Don’t Say It’s Gone” examines Grace at the apex of her vocal prowess. Resonating with heart and soul, the song is further supported by a cloudburst of heavenly choruses, a deep-seated guitar solo, and sharply-defined melodies swaying and sparkling with balance and movement.

Poppy enough to rocket to the top of the charts, yet unique enough to warrant individuality, “Don’t Say It’s Gone” is bound to strike a universal chord.
