Don Henley is returning to the country-rock roots that set his career with Eagles in flight more than 40 years ago. But there is one concession the native Texan says he will not make.
“No hat,” Henley tells NZHerald.co.nz. “That’s where I draw the line.”
Henley has been talking about this new project, his first solo album in more than 13 years, for more than a year — even confirming that the album would be called Cass County, after the place where he was born. But a proposed September 2013 release date came and went.
Still, Henley remains upbeat about things. “It’s kind of a Nashville thing — back to my country roots,” he says. “It’s not this modern country stuff. It’s more traditional country. I am referring to it as an album for grown-ups.
Henley says Alison Krauss, Vince Gill, Merle Haggard, Miranda Lambert, Brad Paisley and others are set to guest on the album. The Eagles’ tour continues through Belgium, the UK and Ireland in the coming days.
