Since 2017, Richard Turgeon has been releasing an unstoppable train of music that has been endorsed far and wide. As of now, the San Francisco Bay-area singer, songwriter and multiple-instrumentalist’s discography numbers four full-length studio albums, a pair of cover tune packages, an EP and a passel of download singles.

Though the main bulk of Turgeon’s repertoire favors a roots-rocking pop code, he has never been opposed to tackling other genres. In fact, Richard Turgeon’s last couple of singles were rather different than the ringing and rollicking guitar-based fests he is principally associated with.

Turgeon’s new single “Seven Stories” continues his exploration and expansion of varied sounds and styles. Authored by Eric Salk of the Union Trade, the infectious song was performed and produced by Turgeon, while bassist Ron Guensche also appears on the track.

Splashed with a slightly jazzy edge that gives way to a swinging groove, “Seven Stories” additionally encompasses a rising tide of plucky melodies and a jabbing guitar solo. Breathy and polished pipes route the song, which turn into a round-robin type of vocalizing towards the end of the session.

Those with a yen for songs carrying a cool-cat vibe, courted by inventive pop-rock sensibilities, will readily bestow their blessings on “Seven Stories.” Turgeon is proving to be quite a versatile artist, and this effort indicates he not only has the ambition to dive headlong into uncharted waters, but succeeds when doing so.
