Richard Turgeon started recording again, mere days after his fourth studio album Sea Change was released.
The San Francisco-based singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist has been doing a great job maintaining a positive attitude throughout the current world crisis. Such a sunny outlook is reflected in Turgeon’s choice of covering “Live Forever,” which was initially recorded in 1994 by the famed British band Oasis. The song made the U.K. Top 10 and appeared on the band’s debut album, Definitely Maybe.
With lyrics like “Maybe I just don’t wanna believe” and “Maybe I just wanna breathe,” “Live Forever” could easily be a contemporary anthem, regarding conspiracy theories surrounding the novel coronavirus and the enforced policy of having to wear face masks.
Gaining traction as it sails forward, Richard Turegon’s take on “Live Forever” swells into a catchy whirl of coiling melodies and fuzzy guitars. A jumbo-sized chorus inspires listeners to sing-a-long with the song, which pins a gospel-ish vibe to a rock-solid foundation.
Turgeon stays true to the original sound and arrangement of “Live Forever,” but still succeeds at adding his own personal touches. That gives this track a fresh spin streaming with renewed energy and passion.
Suitably titled, “Live Forever” sports a timeless quality. Richard Turgeon picked a mighty cool song to revisit, which will hopefully be included on the next album that he is obviously already working on.
