Until the new album from the Initiative arrives later this year, we are fortunate enough to be treated to select songs and videos from the project, which will feature 11 tracks from 11 different artists.
The most recent song completed on the forthcoming album is Joe Mandica’s heart-tugging “Unexpectedly.” Torched by a sparse and strummy sound, the song swells into a smooth mid-paced pop ballad, exquisitely expressing the joy and gratitude of finding romance, feeling reborn and declaring everlasting commitment. Joe’s spirited vocals are melodically lyrical, while a heavenly orchestral arrangement and dreamy harmonies are also injected into this tuneful telegram of love.
The video for “Unexpectedly” is simple and sincere, capturing Joe Mandica simply singing the song. How refreshing it is to view a clip that stresses genuine talent rather than rely on cluttered or shocking images.
Joe – who co-wrote “Unexpectedly” with John Dim – plays all the instruments on the cut, which was produced by Adam Calaitzis at Toyland Recording Studio in Melbourne, Australia. A real beauty it is!
