The Jigsaw Seen, “Have A Wonderful Day” (2015): Something Else! sneak peek

The upcoming single “Have A Wonderful Day” affirms to be yet another utterly outstanding offering from the Jigsaw Seen.

A sense of irony cloaks the track — set for release Aug. 7, 2015 via Burger Records — as lyrics addressing certain ills of the world such as pollution and homelessness clash with its cheery title. Thundering with intensity, the Jigsaw Seen’s “Have A Wonderful Day” shivers and trembles to a compelling commingling of urban grit, glam pop and psychedelic thrills and chills.

Lead singer Dennis Davison’s rich and melodic vocals impress authority and agility, Jonathan Lea’s guitar work wails and rewinds with mastery, and Teddy Freese’s drumming is potent and jolting. Tom Currier’s nimble and cinematic piano break tempers the Jigsaw Seen’s hard-rocking vibe, while a chorus of haunting cellos — courtesy of Tom’s sons, Ry and Finn — also figure into the arresting song.

Founded in 1988, the Jigsaw Seen just get better and better with age. By slipping beyond traditional musical boundaries, the Los Angeles, California band never ceases to maintain an aura of variety and excitement. Keeping in line with their experimental vision, which further involves super-sized hooks and heavy harmonies, the Jigsaw Seen have once again created a sonic marvel with “What A Wonderful Day,” which you’ll definitely want to add to your playlist.
