Something Else! columnist Kit O’Toole will speak twice on Saturday (September 20, 2014) during the Beatles at the Ridge music festival, which begins today at Walnut Ridge, Arkansas, and continues through Sunday.
She begins by playing host to “Lunch ‘n Learn with Kit O’Toole,” which is subtitled “A Walk through the Abbey Road Medley.” O’Toole, who writes a regular feature for Something Else! called Deep Beatles, will take the audience through each part of this multi-song side-two suite — just as she did in her column for this site. The talk will also include rare pictures and footage from the Abbey Road sessions.
A 3 p.m. session follows, titled “Tea ’n Trumpets (er, Guitars) with Dr. Kit O’Toole.” Her subject will be “Ten Sounds That Shook The Beatles World!,” with a focus on the chords, notes or innovations that changed music forever.
Beatles at the Ridge is designed to be part symposium and part festival, with authors, art displays and multi-media presentations throughout the weekend. Featured artist Enoch Doyle Jeter will conduct a personal tour of his gallery of lithographs from 1:45-2:45 p.m. Saturday, as well. O’Toole also writes for Beatlefan magazine, among other publications.
