The Band’s Garth Hudson to take part in benefit for Philadelphia children’s music programs

Garth Hudson will be featured as a guest celebrity during a special pre-show meet and greet for the Tribute to the Last Waltz benefit, held Saturday, November 30, 2013, at the Trocadero Theatre in Philadelphia.

Hudson, the Band’s secret-weapon multi-instrumentalist, played a key role in the gala Last Waltz concert event, held on Thanksgiving Day in 1976 with a raft of special guests including Bob Dylan, Eric Clapton, Van Morrison, the Staple Singers and Muddy Waters, among others.

This tribute to The Last Waltz serves as a benefit to support children’s music education in Philadelphia via local organizations like Parents United for Public Education, the Friends of Horatio B. Hackett School and others. Hudson’s meet-and-greet event begins at 7 p.m.

A host of local musicians will take part in a gala concert to follow. Doors open at 8, with show following at 9 p.m. For more information, including a full list of performers, go to http://thetroc.com/.
