‘To us, it still feels the same’: Geezer Butler on Black Sabbath’s just-launched North American tour

Geezer Butler takes stock, as Black Sabbath kicks off a 20-city North American tour behind its reunion record with Ozzy Osbourne — and he says it’s just like old times.

“To us, it still feels the same — or it does to me, anyway,” Butler tells Live Nation. “When you do on, you do the best that you can on any particular night — and hope the fans love it. So far, it’s been great.”

Sabbath’s new tour began on July 25, 2013, in Houston. Dates in Austin and Tampa have followed. Their next stop is on Wednesday, July 31, at West Palm Beach.

13, which pushed Black Sabbath to the top of the charts in America, is the first studio effort featuring Tony Iommi, Butler and Osbourne since Never Say Die arrived 35 years ago.

“It’s great to have some new material after all these years to be able to go and play,” Butler adds. “We haven’t done anything new since 1978 live.”
