Stream “I Don’t Believe A Word You Say,” part of the forthcoming collaboration from Stax/Concord between Ben Harper and blues harmonica legend Charlie Musselwhite.
The album, due on January 29, 2013, is titled Get Up! — and this rollicking, grease-popping throwdown certainly fits the theme.
The forthcoming project will include 10 cuts mixing blues, roots, gospel and R&B, and features guitarist Jason Mozersky, bassist Jesse Ingalls and drummer Jordan Richardson — known as the Relentless 7.
Musselwhite, a 2010 inductee into the Blues Hall of fame, is coming off his Grammy-nominated 2011 release The Well. For the last two years, he has been honored for both his harmonica playing and as traditional blues male artist of the year at the Blues Music Awards. In all, Musselwhite has won a staggering 27 BMAs.
This is Harper’s 12th studio release, and his first since 2011’s Give Till It’s Gone He is a two-time Grammy Award honoree, as well, earning both in 2005.
