Bruce Springsteen to release title track from forthcoming album We Take Care Of Our Own

The fans have been restless. The E Street Band came back to life in the form of an announcement of a completed album and tour to follow. Stateside fans have been driven to distraction by the official posting of tour dates in various European countries, but nothing here … yet.

Meanwhile, the message boards have been rotting & festering, with speculation about a possible resolution of the Clarence issue, who will be in this next version of the band, and assurances that whatever Bruce does, it can’t be as good as <insert your favorite album here>. Kudos to camp Springsteen for keeping a tight lid on things. It kind of reminds me of the old days when we knew almost nothing about an album until we snagged a copy at the store and raced home to rip off the shrink wrap.

Well, tomorrow one piece of this puzzle will be revealed as Springsteen releases the title track from his forthcoming album We Take Care Of Our Own. There is talk of “surprising sounds” and “Irish rhythms” on the album. C’mon, it’s all talk. Let’s just wait until we tear off the digital shrink wrap.

  1. Consequence Of Sound is reporting the album title is actually Wrecking Ball:

yeah, that came out after i wrote that. dang it. still…pretty excited.

Wrecking Ball is a great title. it’ll **** off the “fans”.

  4. Interesting track list too, if this report is to be believed. At least three songs (“Wrecking Ball”, “LOHAD,” and “American Land”) will already be familiar to those fans who’ve seen any of the last several tours.

Titles like “The Depression” also sound very intriguing. What it really sounds like though, is that this is gonna be Springsteen’s most musically adventurous — and therefore potentially interesting — album in quite some time. Can’t wait!
