I’m pretty picky about my country and Southern rock listening, and to be honest, I don’t explore it as thoroughly as hard rock and metal.

Wayne Hancock – Ride (2013)

The news release that accompanies Wayne Hancock’s latest release on Bloodshot Records opens with a quote from Hank Williams III, who says, “Wayne Hancock has more Hank Sr. in him than either I or Hank Williams Jr. He is the real deal.”

Hank III often gets the credit for reviving the traditional country sound. Though he obviously doesn’t have as noticeable a country name, the true godfather of the neo-traditionalist movement might be Wayne “The Train” Hancock.
