Tony Iommi’s new music for CSI won’t premiere tonight

Don’t bother tuning in tonight in the hopes of hearing some new music from Black Sabbath’s Tony Iommi. He reports that CSI has moved the episode from Nov. 2, 2014 to Nov. 9 instead.

Iommi says the show’s producers told him: “Due to an NFL football game Sunday that went long, they pushed our schedule a week later.”

Tony Iommi and the rest of Black Sabbath appeared on an earlier edition of the program, performing “End of the Beginning,” a track from their Ozzy Osbourne reunion album 13. The guitarist, who overcame cancer during those sessions, said he had hoped to take some time to rest after the tour that followed.

Then this opportunity arose. “I was asked if I’d be interested,” Iommi says, “so I had a look at the footage and came up with an idea they seemed to like. It’s not very long but it was different working with images rather than just music, I’d certainly be up for doing more.”

Another Osbourne-led Black Sabbath album is in the works, though Tony Iommi says he’s only at the idea stage. Ozzy, meawhile, says he believes this will be Sabbath’s final studio effort.
