‘Guess what?’: A peek inside the sessions for a new solo album by Pink Floyd’s David Gilmour

Graham Nash first mentioned it last November. Now, we apparently have photographic evidence of on-going sessions for a new David Gilmour solo album — this time, courtesy of wife Polly Samson’s Instagram account.

Samson, who served as a musical collaborator on both Gilmour’s most recent studio effort (2006’s On an Island) and on Pink Floyd’s studio finale (1994’s Division Bell), posted a photo of Gilmour in the studio with a group of singers including long-time backing vocalist Durga McBroom.

McBroom provides some perspective on the picture: “Guess what??? LOL! This is me, Sarah Brown, Louise Clare Marshall, and this funny dude we found strumming a guitar in Hove. His wife Polly leaked the photo on Instagram. Naughty girl!”

Nash, also part of the On an Island sessions and subsequent Remember that Night concert souvenir, broke the news of a possible Gilmour recording last fall — saying he again provided additional new vocals along with Crosby Stills and Nash co-star David Crosby. Around the same time, Gilmour’s ex-Floyd bandmate Roger Waters confirmed work on his initial rock recording in more than 20 years.
