Queen buzz hasn’t halted Adam Lambert’s solo plans: ‘I’m currently working on music’

Even as Adam Lambert prepares for a long-hoped-for U.S. tour with Queen, he hasn’t left behind his own solo ambitions. Meanwhile, an early-career best-of compilation is also on the way.

Lambert has, of course, been appearing off and on with Queen since their collaboration on the 2009 finale for American Idol, though before last September they’d never shared an American stage together. Following a triumphal stop at the iHeart Radio event, however, momentum began building for this recently announced U.S. jaunt.

But, some fans may have wondered, what did that mean for the promise of another album from Lambert? He’s released two solo albums since Idol, and gone through a public split with RCA. Other than a cool song with Avicii, Lambert’s most recent major offering was 2012’s Trespassing.

“I’m currently working on music for my next album,” Lambert confirms, “and will soon begin rehearsals for the Queen tour.”

Meanwhile, RCA is repackaging some favorite cuts from both Trespassing and 2009’s For Your Entertainment, along with performances from American Idol and, more recently, from Glee for a project called The Very Best of Adam Lambert, due on May 27, 2014. Queen’s 24-show 2014 tour with Lambert kicks off in June.
