‘I’m good for another 50,000 miles’: It’s taken multiple surgeries to keep Kiss’ Paul Stanley going

Sticking with the Kiss lifestyle for four decades, as Paul Stanley has done, has its rewards. The group, after all, is going into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame this spring. But it all hasn’t been easy.

In fact, as Stanley rattles off a series of different surgical procedures that he’s undergone over the years, it’s clear that there have been some costs: “I’ve had both my rotator cuffs repaired, both my knees done,” Stanley tells the Honolulu Advertiser. “I’ve had a hip replacement. But, I’m good for another 50,000 miles.”

Stanley is quick to note that he doesn’t live by a strict code, beyond cutting back on a few things like fried foods, induction ceremonies (rimshot!), and maybe attending the odd gym class. What more could you expect from one of the founding members of a band whose credo is “rock and roll all night, and party every day”?

“Life is about enjoying it,” Stanley adds. “Whether you do it in moderation, that’s really your choice. But the idea of not doing something, denying yourself? Life is about endulging from time to time.”
