How wonderful it would be if we celebrated the spirit of holiday season all year long: Good cheer abounds, delicious edibles are everywhere, and last but not least there’s never a shortage of superb music to listen to.

The latest ditty you can now add to your list of cool Christmas anthems is “I Can’t Wait” (Turn-Up Records) by the one and only Richard X. Heyman. As always, the globally applauded singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist shoves his best foot to the front of the stage and delivers a high quality piece of pop rock pleading for eternal spins.

Not recommended for scrooges, “I Can’t Wait” blooms with anticipation, as Richard X. Heyman expresses how much he looks forward to buying presents, decorating the Christmas tree, building a snowman and seeing Santa Claus. But his greatest wish? Peace on earth.

The sound of this single is as happy and optimistic as the lyrics. Ringing sleigh bells roost eye to eye with sweeps of spangly guitars, while the beat is eager and responsive. A neat and needling hook welded deep within the crevices is also splashed across the canvas, and there’s a contagious giddiness to Richard’s lively and lucid vocals.

Refreshing, ripe and true to its purpose, “I Can’t Wait” brings together the joy of Christmas and power pop panache in a most marvelous method. Merry Christmas to you too, Richard X. Heyman!
