‘Dave is an a**hole; Krist, I’m disappointed in’; Courtney Love goes off on Sirvana collaboration with Paul McCartney

“Sirvana,” Courtney Love muses. “That’s hilarious.” But the widow of Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain has deeper feelings on the subject of Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic’s collaborations with Paul McCartney.

And they’re no laughing matter.

“Whatever,” the always tempestuous Love says in this newly uploaded Fuse clip. “My whole thing with them is totally financial. Dave is an asshole. Krist, I’m disappointed in. I absolutely wouldn’t have a problem if there wasn’t such a major financial issue with this thing called Nirvana Inc. You guys didn’t write one song, and you’re using funds that you have no right to. So, it’s totally illegal and crazy. Someone will fix it someday.”

McCartney initially worked with the surviving members of Nirvana — Grohl, Novoselic and touring member Pat Smear — as part of last year’s Sound City soundtrack, composing the original tune “Cut Me Some Slack.” The group, which was quickly dubbed Sirvana, then appeared at the mega-benefit for Sandy relief and then just last month during a stop on McCartney’s Out There tour.

Grohl and Co. backed McCartney for seven cuts that night in Seattle, including “Cut Me Some Slack” and the closing “Golden Slumbers” medley from the Beatles’ Abbey Road.
