The Little River Band returns with a new song devoted to our armed forces, part of the group’s first non-holiday album of songs in 2006. Cuts like a Diamond is due in August from Frontiers Records.

The Aussie group is best known for a series of late-1970s radio favorites, including “Reminiscing,” “Lady,” “Lonesome Loser” and “Cool Change.” Their most recent Top 20 hit was “Take It Easy On Me,” from early 1982. By then, the best-known early lineup (which featured Glenn Shorrock, Graeham Goble, Beeb Birtles and others) was falling apart. John Farnham handled vocals from 1982-86, then Shorrock returned for a stint between 1987–96.

Bassist Wayne Nelson, who joined in 1980 and has sung lead since 2000, is the lone holdover these days. He’s joined by guitarist Greg Hind, keyboardist Chris Marion, guitarist Rich Herring and drummer Ryan Ricks, all of whom have come on board since 2000.

Cuts like a Diamond arrives on August 24, 2013 in Europe, and then on August 27, 2013 in the U.S. and Canada.
