Paul McCartney’s as-yet untitled new solo album is said to feature guest appearances by Bruce Springsteen, Eric Clapton and — in a surprise — the living members of Nirvana. Mick Ronson, of Amy Winehouse fame, produced four tracks.
McCartney, of course, made a stir late last year when he appeared on stage with Dave Grohl, Krist Novoselic and Pat Smear of Nirvana, performing a new original collaboration called “Cut Me Some Slack” as part of the 12-12-12 benefit concert for Sandy relief.
[APRIL 13, 2013 UPDATE: Steve Marinucci from the Beatles Examiner is now countering this report, quoting a McCartney spokesman as calling the supposedly leaked list ‘bogus.’]
Now, The Macca Report is quoting a source from McCartney’s Concord Music Group as saying a second Nirvana collaboration — called “Down the Road” — is on the way.
The same report said Springsteen sat in for the song “Eye Of The Storm,” while Clapton adds slide guitar to a cut titled “All Of My Life.” McCartney earlier appeared on Clapton’s current release, Old Sock.
Ronson, according to the report, produced songs called “Hosanna,” “Come with Me,” “Life of a Party Girl,” and “I Believe.” The new album is set for release later in 2013, following a new reissue of Wings Over America, a 1976 double album that chronicled McCartney’s first American tour since the Beatles stopped touring 10 years before.
