Something Else! sneak peek: Album art and a monster riff from Black Sabbath’s upcoming 13

To paraphrase Ozzy Osbourne, who whines with a dark menace on this preview video, there’s “no where to hide” from this monster riff as Black Sabbath offers a short preview of its forthcoming reunion project.

The album art work for 13, which pairs Osbourne and original Sabbath members Tony Iommi and Geezer Butler together for the first time since 1978, is also revealed — as a burning effigy runs in reverse, reanimating itself into the number thirteen.

This is the first official music we’ve heard from 13. Produced by the enigmatic Rick Rubin, it’s due June 11, 2013 via Vertigo/Republic.

The sessions have not been without intrigue: Iommi was diagnosed with cancer, and the album was subsequently completed in England while the guitarist underwent treatment. Meanwhile, Brad Wilk of Rage Against the Machine eventually replaced founding drummer Bill Ward when contract talks broke down.

The album title, however, was another thing. It apparently began as nothing more than working monicker, in honor of the year — and it stuck.
