Yoko Ono’s newest single “Hold Me” has arrived, continuing her on-going dance-focused ONO.MIX project — this time with Dave Aude, a well-traveled composer and producer.
“Hold Me” is set for official release on February 19, 2013, via Twisted Records subsidiary Mind Train.
The same week that “Hold Me” drops, Ono will celebrate her 80th birthday by appearing with the Plastic Ono Band under the direction of Sean Ono Lennon, her son with the late John Lennon. The concert will be held on February 17 at Berlin’s Volksbuhne.
Aude has worked, over the years, as a composer and producer with such stars as Madonna, Britney Spears, U2, Lady Gaga, Ke$ha, Depeche Mode and Katy Perry. In all, he has notched more than 80 No. 1 club play chart hits on Billboard.
Together now with Ono, they’ve created a pulsing dream state, with Ono’s echoing, discombobulated vocals skittering over the top.
ONO.MIX, meanwhile, has seen Ono’s work remixed by producers and DJs like Basement Jaxx, Papercha$er, the prog-house collective; Peter Bailey, Danny Tenaglia, DJ Meme, Grammy-winning Ralph Rosario; Tommie Sunshine, the underground EDM star; and R3HAB, the celebrated Dutch producer; among others. The project includes nine songs club hit chart-topping Billboard hits.
“You’ll be surprised,” Ono said in a pre-release interview, “there are so many talented and creative mixers in this field. I am simply stunned by them all.”
