Check out a seven-minute steam of song samples from Spock’s Beard’s new studio effort, Brief Nocturnes and Dreamless Sleep — their first with new vocalist Ted Leonard.
An official release date hasn’t been set, though Spock’s Beard has set a Spring 2013 target via InsideOut. A special pre-order only limited edition of the album is available now.
Leonard replaces Nick D’Virgilio, who himself replaced Neal Morse as frontman of Spock’s. Morse has held a couple of reunions with the band, and was part of the sessions for Brief Nocturnes, bassist Dave Meros said earlier this year.
D’Virgilio, meanwhile, departed in order to join Cirque Du Soleil’s travelling tour.
Neal Morse and guitarist Alan Morse co-founded Spock’s Beard in 1992. D’Virgilio and Meros were later joined by Ryo Okumoto on keyboards. The Brief Nocturnes lineup includes Alan Morse, Meros, Leonard, Okumoto and Jimmy Keegan, who has been a touring drummer with the prog-rock outfit since 2002.
