Yo La Tengo has released a lavish new video — with visuals courtesy of Emily Hubley — for “Before We Run,” lead track off of their forthcoming album Fade, the band’s 13th studio release.

Formed in 1984 in Hoboken, New Jersey, the alternative rock band’s lineup has consisted of Ira Kaplan, Georgia Hubley and James McNew since 1992. The 10-song Fade, due on January 15, 2013, via Matador, follows Yo La Tengo’s Stupid Things EP.

Yo La Tengo has been on Matador since releasing their critically acclaimed sixth studio album Painful in 1993. Their last full-length release was Popular Songs in 2009.

Recorded at Chicago’s Soma Studios with John McEntire, Fade is said to hearken back more than a decade to Yo La Tengo projects like And Then Nothing Turned Itself Inside Out in 2000 and I Can Hear The Heart Beating as One in 1997.

The band is also releasing a numbered deluxe edition of Fade, which will arrive with a bonus disc that features some intriguing covers, including “I Saw the Light,” by Todd Rundgren. An accompanying download will feature another bonus track, this one stretching to 11 minutes.

Yo La Tengo will begin a tour in support of the album after a series of annual Hannukah performances.

Track list for Yo La Tengo’s Fade:
1. Ohm

3. Well You Better
4. Paddle Forward
5. Stupid Things
6. I’ll Be Around
