Something Else! sneak peek: Asia – Resonance: The Omega Tour (2012)

Here’s a sneak peek at the upcoming live 2CD/DVD package by Asia — a smart new take on “Only Time Will Tell,” the No. 17 hit off the group’s eponymous 1982 debut.

Frontiers Records will release Resonance: The Omega Tour on November 23, 2012 in Europe and then on November 27 in North America. The concert features Asia’s original foursome of John Wetton, Steve Howe, Geoff Howe and Carl Palmer, performing on May 4, 2010 at Basel, Switzerland.

Wetton had been a member of King Crimson and UK, Howe and Downes had been in Yes, and Palmer had been in Emerson Lake and Palmer — but the supergroup only lasted two years in its original configuration. Downes, who came to fame with the Buggles, remains the only member to have appeared on each Asia studio effort.

The initial lineup reunited in the mid-2000s, however, and have gone on to make three new albums since. Recorded with 18 HD cameras, Resonance: The Omega Tour features favorites from Asia and the group’s 1983 follow up, as well as newer tracks from Asia’s first two reunion projects, Phoenix and Omega.

Earlier this year, Asia issued the well-received XXX in honor of its 30th anniversary, and has returned to the road for a new tour.
