Prog-rock vets Renaissance — led by vocalist/lyricist Annie Haslam and guitarist/composer Michael Dunford — have returned with a new live album, a series of fall concert dates and a planned studio project.

Turn of the Cards, and Scheherazade and Other Stories: Live 2011, a concert recording set for release August 14, 2012, was recorded in Glenside, Pennsylvania. Live 2011 finds Renaissance performing two of their most popular releases in their entirety — 1974’s Turn of the Cards, which was highlighted by “Things I Don’t Understand,” founding member Jim McCarty’s final contribution; and 1975’s Scheherazade and Other Stories, which included “Ocean Gypsy,” a track that was subsequently covered by Blackmore’s Night. The expanded edition includes a concert DVD, the first of its kind for Renaissance.

Grandine il Vento, the new studio release, is set to follow in 2013 through the band’s Symphonic Rock Recordings.

Haslam and Dunford will again be joined on the subsequent tour by keyboardist Rave Tesar and bassist/vocalist David J. Keyes, both members of Renaissance since its 2001 reboot. The group is rounded out by keyboardist/vocalist Jason Hart (Rufus Wainwright, Duncan Sheik) and drummer Frank Pagano (Bruce Springsteen, the Smashing Pumpkins).

Renaissance will play 15 times in October, traveling from Washington D.C. south to Florida, then back north to Canada and New York before concluding with a pair of dates in New Jersey.
