A delicately refined update of band leader Tim Baker’s 2008 project Into Your Lungs, Hey Rosetta! (with an assist from producer Tony Doogan, who’s worked with Belle and Sebastian, and Wintersleep) offers another retro-cool chamber pop triumph here, but with a pleasant dash of pop-music raucousness. ATO is releasing Seeds a year after its appearance in Baker’s native Canada, where the album has already sold some 20,000 units. Moments like “Young Glass” and the title track make it easy to see why. Always smart and melodically inviting, it’s swinging art-rock of the first order — equal parts sweeping orchestral emotion and hooky delight. No easy feat.
