Tony Bennett, 85 this year and still singing with great dimension and style, is set to release of Tony Bennett: Duets II, Sept. 20 on RPM/Columbia Records. Here’s an early preview of a key track

Duets II, primarily recorded at Los Angeles’ famed Capital Studios and produced by Phil Ramone, is the follow up to Tony Bennett Duets: An American Classic, a Grammy-winning 2006 effort which has become the best-selling project in Bennett’s storied career. The sequel features guest vocalists from across the musical landscape, including Andrea Bocelli, Michael Buble’, Mariah Carey, Sheryl Crow, Natalie Cole, Aretha Franklin, Lady Gaga, Josh Groban, Faith Hill, Norah Jones, k.d. lang, John Mayer, Willie Nelson, Queen Latifah, Alexjandro Sanz, Carrie Underwood and the late Amy Winehouse. Buble’ and lang were both featured on the original Duets project, as well.

“I love the great American songbook and have been fortunate to have had the opportunity to introduce many of these songs to the public,” Bennett said in an advance release. “It is a thrill to perform them once again with artists that I admire to create new interpretations of the music I love so much.”

All of the duets, in marked contrast to similar albums from other artists, were recorded live in the studio with Bennett. “Body and Soul,” which pairs Bennett with Winehouse, represents one of the her last works, and is slated for release as this album’s lead single on Sept. 14 via iTunes. Proceeds will go to the Amy Winehouse Foundation, an organization established by the singer’s family to provide support for young people dealing with substance abuse.
